Best way to get your ex back

When my girlfriend broke up with me I was devastated and called and visited her quite often to make her know how much I loved her. Despite doing all this she started getting irritated and avoided talking to me or seeing me. Knowing about my situation my best friend told me the best way to get your ex back which worked for me. I stopped calling or visiting her and even if she called I said I am busy and never called her back. I replied to her online as well as text messages after at least five minutes and never showed her my excitement. My changed behavior made her come back to me.
